We always advise applying to use our service at least three(3) months before the expiry of your current tenancy (if you're already renting). If your application to rent RNPL Portfolio (one of three options how this platform works) is accepted, your name will go onto a waiting list. You will then have to wait until your name comes to the top of the list.
Tenant Screening
At some point, as your name gets closer to the top of the list, we will check your landlord references and credit reports and do a criminal background check for most members of your household.
Staying on the list
During the time you are on the waiting list, we will from time to time send you a notice asking whether you are still interested in being on the waiting list. You will be given only a short time to respond to this notice. If you do not respond by the deadline, you will be taken off the waiting list. For this reason, you should check your email regularly and respond quickly to any request.
How do I keep track of my place on a waiting list?
As an applicant, you can email us to find out where you are on a waiting list. If your application has been accepted, you will likely be notified for any valid application you file. Waiting list tracking numbers will be issued in the coming weeks to foster transparent processing (in line with our equal opportunity policy), without compromising on other prospective tenants' privacy.
Keep in contact
Because waiting lists are so long, you may want to contact us (by replying the email we send to you notifying you of your placement on our waiting list) every so often to see what progress you are making on the waiting list.
How long will I wait?
Waiting lists can be very long. You may be lucky and have your application pulled early, giving you a place closer to the top of the waiting list. For example, you may be looking for a single room self-contained apartment and be placed at number 75th position and with none of the 74 applicants ahead of you looking for a single-room self contained apartment or none of them accepted the suggested property, you obviously move ahead of the 74 and get to move in earlier than thought.
If I was taken off a waiting list, is there anything I can do?
It depends. If you never responded to any of our emails on your place on our waiting list, you will be removed, and you may not be able to do anything about being taken off a waiting list. If, however, you were taken off a waiting list and it was related to a disability (for example, if you were hospitalized at the time a notice was sent to you), you can ask to be put back on the waiting list as a reasonable accommodation to your disability.
